Be aware that bison can be found anywhere along Highway 3 starting 30 kilometres from Yellowknife through to the Mackenzie River. November and December are peak months for bison collisions. Drive according to weather and road conditions, and do not overdrive your headlights so that you are able to respond in time if a bison is on the road ahead of you.
