Our Team Approach

The Department of Transportation puts a high value on developing high performance teams which deliver extraordinary results. Experienced engineers are matched with intermediate and junior engineers, Members-In-Training, engineering technologists, engineering technicians, and those with experience supervising construction projects. This ensures that each team has a good mix of technical knowledge and experience.

Senior and intermediate engineering staff act as team leaders and mentors for the other members of their team, giving them an opportunity to share their skills to deliver on projects critical to community, territorial, and national interests. Each of our senior and intermediate engineering staff leave a legacy of both the things they have built and the people they have mentored.

Junior engineering staff gain the skills and experience required to be given progressively responsible roles. The Department supports training opportunities to allow staff to enhance their qualifications and skills.
 
All engineering staff are eligible for the Career Development Program which allows them to develop and implement, with the support of the Department and their supervisor, a career training plan which will give them the ability to advance in their career within the Department. We value our staff, and we make every effort to further their careers.
